To the tune of Disney's "Part of Your World"

Look at this grant,
Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my CV is complete?
Wouldn't you think I'm the prof
The prof whose done everything?
Look at this data
Theses untold
How many wonders can one model hold?
Reading the intro you think
Sure, she's got everything
I've got prelim data a-plenty
I've got colaborations galore
You want clinical strains?
I've got twenty!
But who cares?
No big deal
I want funds

I wanna pay my poor students more
I wanna see, wanna see them workin'
Spending their time in that, what do you call it?
Oh - lab!

Having them teach, you don't get too far
Grants are required for thinking, writing
Spending their time on a - what's that word again?
Paper

Measuring samples, doing titrations
blasting little things with the laser
focused on science - wish I could be
Part of that world

What would I give if I could live without these presures
What would I pay to spend a day not on a grant?
Bet'cha in Europe they understand
that they must give some funding
junior PIs, with a project
Ready to start

And ready to know what the data shows
Ask the right questions and get some papers
What is our model and is it too - what's the word?
Funky?

When's it my turn?
Wouldn't I love, love to explore that world all around?
Just fund this grant
Then I could be
Part of that world
